Why Windows Never Released 4 had easter eggs and references to other media?

I had interesting time to develop Windows Never Released 4, nicknamed Grand Theft Mockups. In the ways, the style of WNR4 differs from the ones you'll find on WNRX and MWC11. One of differences is the inclusion of easter eggs.

This was a different boredom. Just in time when sympathy to KDE's mascot Konqi kicked in. It's when he was appeared on Windows D5 login screen.

Numerals on Beta IDs for my Windows AUs had been referenced numerous times.

08-00-85 = it's obvious...

90-01 = a classic internet meme involving on english dub of DBZ's "The Return of Goku".

04-08-15-16-23-42 = The Numbers from the american Lost TV series.
